Robert I. Bob Goetz, 75, of Owensboro died Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the Regional Medical Center in Madisonville, Kentucky as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, in charge of the Ministers of Hospitality and assisted with the Landings program. He was retired from Green River Steel and Green River Intra-County Transit System (GRITS). He was currently employed as a courier for Independence Bank in Owensboro. He also volunteered with the Glenmary Sisters and the Owensboro Help Office. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Elizabeth Munday Center, a Kentucky Colonel, and a judge for the International Barbecue Festival. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for many years in Masonville. He touched many lives through his kindness and generosity.

Mr. Goetz was born in Daviess County to the late Hubert and Margaret Goetz on November 4, 1931. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Wathen Goetz in August 1997, a daughter-in-law, Connie D. Goetz in August 1997 and three brothers, Edward, Sylvester and Kenneth Goetz.

Surviving are his wife of 9 years, Joyce Lee Goetz; a daughter Nancy (Duane) Harris of Owensboro; sons, Bob (Cindy) Goetz, Richard (Trena) Goetz, Randy (Diane) Goetz, Tim (Cathy) Goetz and Marion (Aleta) Willett, all of Owensboro; grandchildren, Nikki (Jeff) Constant of Glasgow, Tiffany (Craig) Nalley of Owensboro, Kristin (J.D.) Reed of Woodbury, Minnesota, Kelly Goetz of Lexington, Jodi (Jeff) Ferrell of Birmingham, Alabama, David (Elizabeth) Glenn, Jr., Ben Goetz, Josh Goetz, Eric Goetz, Rebecca Goetz, all of Owensboro, Jennifer (Eric) Wedding and Krissy (Jeff) York of Owensboro and Eddie Willett of Columbus, Ohio; great-grandchildren Jessica, Jordan, Alex, Katie, Tate, Emma, Dylan, Hunter, Caden, Audrey and Mark; stepsons, John F. (Michelle) Straney of Owensboro and Michael E. Johnson of Bowling Green; a stepdaughter, Tracie (Larry) Reneer of Owensboro; step-grandchildren, Hannah and Mandie of Owensboro, Cory of Texas and Jeff of Arkansas; a brother, Earl (Lucy) Goetz of Masonville; a sister, Mary Helen (Lloyd) Nash of Masonville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services are at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 8 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with the Rev. Freddie Byrd officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 P.M. Sunday and from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M. on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Blessed Mother Church Building Fund or the Glenmary Sisters. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
