Robert Lee "Bob" Crowe, 70, of Philpot, departed this life and went to be with the Lord, Saturday, June 25, 2011 at his home surrounded by his loving family, after a four year courageous battle with acute leukemia. Robert was born November 4, 1940 in Reynolds Station to the late, Arnold "Bus" and Colleen (Russell) Crowe. He lived in Masonville after marriage to his wife Carol Sue April 19, 1963,and lived in Philpot from 1967 until the present. He was an Army veteran, serving as an engineer and military police. Robert retired from Swedish Match, after 16 years, as a stem mill operator January 31, 2002. He had also worked for Hagan's Construction as a concrete superintendent and as a self employed concrete, block and brick mason, and had worked 16 years for Green River Steel. He was a member of the Church of God, serving as Sunday School Superintendent 25 years, and as a youth leader, and currently attended Church Alive. Robert was a devoted husband and father, and enjoyed church and family gatherings, and spending time with his grandchildren, and hunting deer, rabbit, turkey and squirrel. Bob loved and enjoyed life. He also was a member of the Confectioners Union, and Ensor Masonic Lodge # 729 F.&A.M.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Carol Sue (Johnson) Crowe, daughters, Suzanne Campbell of Somerset, KY., Diane (Jarrod) Wilson of Whitesville, sons, Rob (Summer) Crowe, of Knottsville, Aaron (Karen) Crowe of Reynolds Station, and a daughter Heather (Chuck Clark) Crowe of Philpot, grandchildren, Jessica (Kevin) Miller, Caleb, Josh and Katie Campbell, Brittany Devine, Dalton Wilson, Hunter Evans, Ashton and Jadon Crowe, Logan Evans, Makinzy Clark, a brother, John (Mary Alice) Crowe of Philpot, two sisters, Karen Crowe of Owensboro, and Sharon Crowe of Lexington, Ky. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Crowe.
Funeral services will be held at Church Alive, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday June 29, 2011 with Pastor Jerry Ford and Joseph Hagan officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, and Tuesday at Church Alive after 9 a.m. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
