Robert Lee Cooper, 68, of Owensboro passed away, Friday, January 27, 2006 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from injuries suffered in a fire at his apartment house on Friday. Born in Webster County on September 28, 1937, Mr. Cooper was the son of the late James M. and Margaret Herrington Cooper. He was a Navy veteran and had worked as a dispatcher for Gulf Oil; as a construction worker; and painter; and was a member of the Worship Center. He was preceded in death by brothers, Joseph Cooper, James Copper, Jr., Bill Cooper, and Leroy Cooper, and sisters, Mary Ruth Rushing, Alice Delee, Irene Lablane, and Mirtie Cooper.

Mr. Cooper is survived by a son, Randy Cooper in Alabama; two grandchildren; a brother, Charles A. Cooper of Ooletwah, TN; and several nieces and nephews.

Services are 2:30 P.M. Tuesday, January 31, 2006, at Christ Chapel, Owensboro Memorial Gardens with Brother Jack Carter officiating. VFW Post 696 will render military honors. Visitation will be from 12 noon to 2 P.M. at Glenn Funeral Home.
