Robert H. Christ

Robert Henry "Bob" Christ, Sr., 92, of Owensboro. On Thursday, January 28, 2010, Bob Christ or as Mom called him "Christy", ended his lifelong journey. Along the way he touched the lives of many people, most especially his family, whose love and admiration was immeasurable. He also earned the respect of the many church members where he had attended, his co-workers at General Electric, and the numerous scouts that he mentored in his long tenure as Scout Master of Troop # 77. He honorably served as a flight engineer on a B-29 Bomber during WW II. He was born October 16, 1917 to the late Henry and Sadie Connelly Christ in Scranton, PA, and is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Helen Cross Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening and helping others.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Christ.

In addition to his wife, Helen, other survivors include his children; Howard (Earlene) Christ of Mt. Vernon, IL, Richard (Penny) Christ of Owensboro, Henry (Kay) Christ of Spice Knob, KY, Sharon (Rev. Arthur) Scott of Myrtle Beach, SC, Ginny (John) Irwin of Pittsburgh, PA, Becky Lu (Dr. Paul) Morton of Chickamauga, GA; thirteen grandchildren, Brian Christ, Nancy Baim, Jonathan Scott, Deborah Dutton, David Scott, Stephen Scott, Nathan Irwin, Lanie Kincer, Colin Christ, Jason Christ, Ryan Christ, Gavin Christ, and Megan Brown, and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM Saturday and after 12:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International, P.O.
