Robert Grant Burns

Robert Grant Burns, Sr. 67, of Philpot, Kentucky died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was of the Baptist faith, had been a member of the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran, served in the National Guard, and had been a Truck Driver for over 25 years. Mr. Burns was an avid fisherman and gardener who loved to cook. He recorded a gospel record in Nashville in 1969 and was a great fan of gospel music. He was preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Katherine Webb Burns, and his siblings, W.A. Burns, Margie Burns, Hazel McDonald, and Bernard Burns.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Burns; sons, Robbie Burns and his wife Misti of Owensboro, and Keith Burns of Philpot; grandchildren, Kristi Burns, Kim Burns, and Brad Burns all of Owensboro; a brother; Kenneth Burns and his wife Patricia of Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday and after 10 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Nickel Ridge Cemetery.
