Robert "Bobby" Brown Quisenberry

Robert “Bobby” Brown Quisenberry, 87, of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Heartford House while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. Bobby was born September 9, 1936, in Owensboro, KY, to the late Everett and Mary Louise Brown Quisenberry. He was a Christian and has gone to join our Lord in Heaven.

Bobby was a graduate of Owensboro High School, graduating with the class of 1954. He then attended the University of Kentucky, studying Civil Engineering, where he graduated in 1959. While a student at the University of Kentucky, Bobby was recognized and honored by his professors as an exemplary pupil among his fellow Civil Engineering classmates. While in college, Bobby was also a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.

Upon graduation from the University of Kentucky, He served two employments with the United States Army wherein he served his country as an active-duty enlisted man. While serving in the Army, Bobby was awarded the Sharpshooter Commendation.

He was a Civil Engineer by trade. In 1967, Bobby began working for Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry - a business that Bobby’s father, Everett, had helped to start. He worked for Johnson, Depp, and Quisenberry until the business was sold in 2016. Post 2016, Bobby continued his career as a Civil Engineer working both for the Owensboro Regional Airport as well as for Traylor Brothers, Inc out of Evansville, Indiana. A man of many talents in the realm of engineering, Bobby specialized in bridge design and construction. Indeed, over the course of his career, he oversaw the development and construction of over 70 bridges.

In life outside of work, Bobby was an avid Kentucky athletics fan who enjoyed watching his alma mater compete. Much more than a sports fan, however, He was a family man. Bobby loved spending time with his family, and he was a true model of a gentleman. Kindhearted, humble, and good-willed - he could most often be found graciously serving those around him. Whether it was taking grandkids fishing, helping neighbors’ kids with homework assignments, or tending yardwork with his wife Barbara - Bobby was always the model of Godly humility. On those rare occasions when Bobby took time for himself, he’d most often be found playing tennis - which he did well into his late 60s - riding his bike or traveling.

Bobby is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Hamilton Quisenberry; siblings, Sarah Quisenberry of Lake Worth, Florida, Marilyn (Darrell) Baird, and sister-in-law, Martha Quisenberry; children, Robert (Sherry) Quisenberry of Cumming, Georgia, Neil (Darryn) Quisenberry of Belleville, Illinois, Patricia (Pat) Millay, David (Jill) Head, Susan (Chris) Fulkerson, Kristie Head, and Carol Rowe. Bobby’s legacy also boasts 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
