Robert "Bob" G. Williams

Robert “Bob” G. Williams, 92, of Owensboro passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Bloomington, Indiana. The New York City native was born April 21, 1931, to the late William Walter Williams and Gertrude Bushmann Williams. Bob served during the Korean War as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge he was employed as a police officer for thirty-five years in Nassau County, New York. After relocating to Owensboro, Bob became a member of Immaculate Catholic Church. He volunteered at election polls and was a decorated and honored blood donor. Bob was the floor manager at the River Park Center for twenty-four years where he trained volunteers and often provided transportation to performing celebrities.

In addition to his parents, Bob also was preceded in death by his first wife Joan, daughter Patricia, infant son Robert, granddaughter Heather, sister Virginia, and son-in-law Colin.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of thirty-four years, Lora May Yarger Williams; four daughters, Donna Triolo (Peter) of Lindenhurst, NY, Linda Baumann (Richard) also of Lindenhurst, Sonya Summers (Jerry) of Dubois, IN, and Sylvia Gill of Jasper, IN; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

The funeral service followed by military honors will be 11:00 am Friday, January 19 at Faith Lutheran Church with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Bob will be laid to rest in Lindenhurst Cemetery in New York.
