Robert Leo Beard

Robert Leo Beard, 74, of Ridgewood St., passed away on Friday, June 19, 2009 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born July 19, 1934 in Daviess Co. to the late William A. and Mayme Louise Vanover Beard, Sr. He was a member of Hall St. Baptist Church for over 50 years and was retired from the United States Postal Service as a distribution clerk. He was an avid U.K. basketball fan, and enjoyed fishing and collecting baseball caps having over 1700 in his collection. He was a Ky. Colonel. He was also preceded in death by a brother, William A. Beard, Jr. and a sister, Genora Beard Westerfield.

Surviving is his wife of 56 years Joan Wilson Beard, three sons, Bill Beard, Jeff M. Beard, and Don Beard, all of Owensboro, a daughter, Teresa Beard Bays and husband Jeff of New Salisbury, IN, seven grandchildren, Jason Buskill, Aleisha Beard, Lindsey Atherton, Hunter Beard, Destinee Beard, Devon Beard, and Jasmine Beard, a great grandchild, Carson Teasley, and a sister, Helen Jackson and husband Basil of Owensboro.

Services will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 22, at the Glenn Funeral Home Chapel with burial following in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-7:00 P.M. Sunday and after 10:00 A.M. Monday at the funeral home.
