Robbie Sue Gardner, 75, of Cheyenne Drive, Owensboro, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. Mrs. Gardner was a native of North Springs, Tennessee, born to the late Bailey Cordell and Versie (Cherry) Davenport. She was a retired bookkeeper for Case Power & Equipment, and a member of the Owensboro Church of Christ. She was a basketball player in high school, and was active in Homemakers of Daviess County, serving as vice-president and treasurer of the Early Birds. She was a former girl scout leader, loved to garden, and was active in church activities.
Also preceding her in death were sisters, Jean Jenkins, Joyce Gore, June Johnson, and brothers, Billy Davenport and Donnie Davenport.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Charles Gardner, a son, Brent Gardner and wife Doris, a daughter, Lisa Gardner, and granddaughter Beth Gardner, all of Owensboro, a brother, Bobby Davenport of Goodletsville, TN., and Wanda Bybee of Gainsboro, TN., and her loving in laws, Margie, Faye, Edith, Sarah, Doris, Sue, Glenn, Harold and Jimmy, and special family, Bobbi, Ashley and Amanda Yeckering.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Owensboro Church of Christ with burial following at Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the American Cancer Society.
