Ricky L. Ray

Ricky L. Ray, 55, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born in Owensboro on April 18, 1959, Mr. Ray was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High School; attended Murray State University; and was a technician for Kimberly Clark. Mr. Ray was a Christian. He was an avid sports fan, especially sports involving his children and grandchildren. He coached his son in baseball and football and was his boxing cornerman; his daughter's softball team; and never missed his step-daughter or a grandchild's sporting event. Mr. Ray was a former OCHS softball assistant coach and a former assistant football coach at KY Wesleyan. He was a kind, caring, generous person; and an avid University of Louisville fan.

Surviving is his wife Kathy Westerfield Ray; a son, Chad (Stephanie) Ray of Owensboro; a daughter, Carissa (Austin) James of Owensboro; a step-daughter, Chloe Kirk of Owensboro; grandchildren, Cayden, Dayton and Oakley Ray and Jayden and Isaac James; his father and mother, Robert and Linda Ray of Owensboro; and brothers, Randy (Lisa) Ray of Fredericksburg, VA and Rob (Cheryl) Ray of Calhoun.

Services are 12 noon Friday, June 20, 2014 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with burial following in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
