Rick Gordon York

Rick Gordon York, 60, of Owensboro went to be with the Lord on May 29, 2015 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Owensboro on March 10, 1955 to the late Ray Gordon and Opal Jarboe York. Rick graduated from Owensboro High School and then received a 2 year degree from ITT Tech in Electronics. He then earned his degree in Heating and Air Conditioning from Owensboro Community and Technical College and later served on the Heating and Air Condition Board at the college for 15 years. Rick worked as the Facilities Director at the RiverPark Center for the past 12 years. Soccer was very important to the York family and Rick coached 2 generations of players over his 20 year coaching career. An avid UK basketball fan, Rick tried to watch every game if he could. As an animal lover the family never turned away a stray. Rick was a member of Christ Community Church.

In addition to his parents, Rick is preceded in death by a son, Scott York in 2005.

Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years, Carla Loney York; sons, Jonathan York and Jeff (Krissy) York; grandsons, Trevor Scott York and Scott Jefferson York; great grandchildren, Nahla Daugherty and Julian York-House; brother, Dennis York; aunt, Reva Daniels; mother-in-law Barbara Byrne; children whom he loved as his own, Jason Scott, Allan Fitzgerald, Steve Byrne and Cheyanne Crowe; and a special canine friend, Earl.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to The RiverPark Center or The Heartford House.

The funeral service for Rick will be held 11:00 am Tuesday June 2, 2015 at the RiverPark Center. Visitation will be from 2 until 8 pm Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 9 am Tuesday at the RiverPark Center. Burial will follow the service at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
