Rick Fowler, 67, of Owensboro, passed away Wednesday, June 14, 2017 under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born in Winslow, Indiana to the late George and Thelma Waymen Fowler.
Rick was raised in Winslow and graduated from Winslow High. He earned his undergraduate degree in geology from Indiana State and his master's degree from University of Southern Indiana. Rick taught math at Webster County High School for twenty-seven years. He was past chairman and an active member of The Sierra Club- Pennyrile Group for many years. Rick was an avid camper, having camped in 49 of the 50 states. Those trips provided opportunities to add to his very impressive rock collection. He also travelled extensively, including trips to four World Cup Soccer events with his son.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings.
He is survived by his wife of nineteen years, Linda Fowler; a daughter, Stacey Chilton and her husband, Darrell; a son, Alex Fowler and his wife, Jen; step-daughter, Michelle Blum-Bennett and her husband, Dr. Richard Bennett; a step-son, Bill Blum; eight grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Strader-Heard; and many nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, June 20, with visitation after 5:00 PM, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
