Richard Harlan Peck

Richard Harlan Peck, 91, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at his home. He was born on June 21, 1923 in Vanderburgh Co., IN to the late Richard H. and Minna Whitehead Peck. Richard was retired from Texas Gas Transmission Corp. after 33 years with their Aviation Dept. as the Maintenance Director. He has been a member of Owensboro Christian Church for many years and was one of the founding members. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Operations from Parks Air College (now St. Louis University) in St. Louis, MO. He had worked for Republic Aviation in Evansville where he was involved in the final assembly and flight preparation for the P-47 Fighter-Bomber. He was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II having served in Germany. Richard was a Federal Aviation certified mechanic and a commercial rated pilot. He enjoyed flying and working with children. He also was a member of the Gideons International. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Durham Peck on May 27, 1978.

Surviving are a daughter, Linda Smith and husband Joey of Knoxville, TN, two sons, Timothy Peck and wife Pearl of Sorgho and Matthew Peck of Owensboro, five grandchildren, Amber Peck(Chad) Collier of Collierville, TN, Andrew Peck of Owensboro, Kyle (Isaac) Treesh of Tampa, FL, and Neale (Kari) and Perry Smith, all of Knoxville, and a great grandchild, Cruise Jackson Collier of Collierville.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, August 7, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Scott Kenworthy officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home.
