Richard L. Kurek, 77, of Owensboro, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Owensboro Medical Health System. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Albert and Stephanie Kurek. Richard retired after 35 years in the trucking business. He was a Navy Veteran in the Korean War. He was the senior champion of the city of Cleveland Bowling League and was the secretary and treasurer of all the leagues. Dick adored his grandchildren.
Surviving is his wife Jeanne Penn "Penny" Greer Kurek, a daughter, Kathy (Greg) Feiler, sons, Dale (Susie) Kurek, Kevin Kurek, and Brian (Amy) Kurek, and a daughter - in law, Lori Kurek, all of Cleveland, and a son, Richard ( Juliet ) Kurek Jr., of San Diego, California, three step-children, Kathy (Glenn) Rolley of Owensboro, Julie (Mike) Baltenberger of Lexington, Ky., and Jamie (Rusty) Hayden of Louisville, Ky., a sister, Mary Ann Kurek of Cleveland, 12 grandchildren, 4 stepgrandchildren, one great-grandchild.
Services will be held at a later date in Cleveland, Ohio, and no local visitation is planned. Online condolences may be expressed at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
