Richard J. Hutchinson, 84, of Owensboro, died October 16, 2006 at Owensboro Medical Health System. The Helena, Ohio native was born to the late John Bailey and Edna Almeda Claar Hutchinson on January 9, 1922. Mr. Hutchinson was a Deacon at Lewis Lane Baptist Church, shop foreman at Gipe Automotive for thirty-two years, a lifetime member of the North American Fishing Club, a member of the American Legion and DAV, and long-time Help Office board member and volunteer. He also helped build a Habitat for Humanity home, went on 2 mission trips with his church, was a WWII Veteran in the European Theatre, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and delivered supplies during D-Day. His greatest love besides his family was fishing.
Preceding him in death beside his parents include his sister; Anita Rose Hutchinson Fahle, his brother; Ray Claar Hutchinson, and his faithful dog; Buck.
Survivors include his wife of sixty years; Gwendolyn Russell Hutchinson, his daughter; Suzanne Miller, his sons and daughters-in-law; Richard Daniel Danny and Debbie Hutchinson of Ohio Co., and Bruce Edward and Peggy Hutchinson of Owensboro, his brother; Ned L. Hutchinson of Pemberville, Ohio, his grandchildren and their spouses; Stephen Michael Miller of Owensboro, Gwendolyn Dawn and Ryan Mulholland of Frederick, MD, Bruce Edward, Jr. and Danielle Hutchinson of Owensboro, Jaime Lynn and Scott Norris of Owensboro, Ryan Daniel and Amanda Hutchinson of Owensboro, and his great-grandchild; Noah Timothy Norris of Owensboro.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 21, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. Greg Huguley officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Rosehill Cemetery will full military honors. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday and from 9:00 until service time on Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lewis Lane Baptist Church or to the Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children.
