Richard S. Dick Greenwell, 79, of 1171 Yelvington-Knottsville Road, Maceo, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at Wellington Parc. He was born May 13, 1926 to the late James and Frances Simon Greenwell
in Daviess County. He retired from Alcoa after 23 years and was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church. He was a member of the Owensboro Rock and Mineral Club, the Owensboro Area Museum and he enjoyed collecting rocks, traveling and camping.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Tom and Charles; his sisters, Susan Wink and Mary Rose Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Clark Greenwell; children, Richard Lynn Greenwell and his wife, Barbara of Lewisport, Marlene Freels and her husband, Richard of Maceo, Dale Greenwell and his wife, Cindy of Maceo, Bonnie Emmick and her husband, Byron of Lewisport, and Robin Greenwell and his wife, Tammy of Owensboro; grandchildren, Adam Greenwell, Wendy Delp, Brad Freels, Brad Crump, Brittanie Hite, Katrina Emmick, Gina Roebuck, Kasey Emmick, Christine Greenwell and Kayla Greenwell; nine great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Helen and Maudie Greenwell, both of Owensboro; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1:00 PM Friday, at St. Pius X Catholic Church with entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home with prayers at 7:00 PM. Visitation Friday will be after 9:00 AM. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church Bldg. Fund, 3512 East Sixth Street, Owensboro, KY 42303.
