Richard Scott Embry

Richard Scott Embry, 48, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2010 at his home. He was born on October 28, 1962 in Chicago, IL. He was a member of Pleasant Valley Community Church which he loved and was very active. He was employed with Quaker Chemical Co. at A.K. Steel, Inc. One of Scott's great loves was music and singing. He had written many songs and had recorded his own CD. He enjoyed singing special music at various churches in the area. He enjoyed fishing and watching his favorite show, "The Andy Griffith Show". He was a very caring person and had ministered to a lot of people in need, especially those with addictions. He loved his family very much, especially his children and grandchildren, and also his 14 year old dog, Xena. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Lewis Embry in 2004, a son, Jonathan Scott Embry in 1986, and grandparents, Harrison and Altie Mae Daugherty and Clemon Embry.

Surviving are his wife of 14 years, Vikki Embry, two sons, Matthew Embry and wife Nichole of Owensboro and Jacob Embry of Belton, KY, two daughters, Nijha and Carlie Embry, at home, two grandchildren, Carter and Zoey Embry of Owensboro, his parents, Vance and Beth Parrish of Arab, AL, grandparents, Ruth Parrish of Guntersville, AL and Lillie Cannon of Beaver Dam, a brother, Jeff Parrish of Gallatin, TN, a sister, Sheila Bratcher of Arab, AL, a half sister, Lillie Hicks of Owensboro, his mother-in-law, Geneva Norris of Albertville, AL, sister-in-law, Jan Norris of Albertville, and several nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Services will be 12 Noon Thursday, November 18, at Pleasant Valley Community Church. Burial will follow in Centertown Cemetery in Ohio Co. Visitation will be from 3:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and after 10:00 A.M. Thursday at Pleasant Valley Community Church.
