Richard L. Eisenmenger

July 14, 1941 — August 25, 2014

Richard L. "Ike" Eisenmenger, 73, of Owensboro, went home to his eternal peace on Monday, August 25, 2014. He was born on July 14, 1941 in Marion Co., IN to the late Richard L. and Ruth Tapp Eisenmenger, Sr. He was a member of Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church.

Ike gave his all to many causes and organizations through the years that were close to his generous heart. He loved his country and was a decorated Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War. In previous years, he gave back to children, who had lost their smile, as being a Shriner and a Shrine clown, his name being "Rooster". In his later years, he served as commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #696 and spent countless hours and personal funds for the betterment of the post. He also was a life member of the AmVets Post #119, and a member of the American Legion. Everything he did was out of love and duty to his brothers and sisters of all branches of service. He made his family proud and taught them about being selfless and about self sacrifice, about being a person of your word, and standing up for what you believe in. Ike was also preceded in death by his 2nd wife, Diane and his sister, Bessie Jean Barmes.

He is survived by his life companion and first wife, Shirley Koontz, daughters, Kim Eisenmenger, and Mary Ruth Steele and husband Jude of Owensboro, three sons, John W. Payne and wife Alicia, Clay Payne and wife Carrie, and Mike Payne and wife Linda, all of Owensboro, 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and three beloved canine companions, Casper, Scamper, and Bella.

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 29, at Sts. Joseph and Paul Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Thursday with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 8:30 A.M. Friday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Graveside services and military honors will be provided on Saturday.
