Richard M. Clements

Father Richard Madden Clements, 82, of 2501 Old Hartford Rd., Owensboro, died Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the Owensboro Mercy Health System. The Union County native was born September 5, 1919 to Sam W. Clements, Sr. and Elizabeth Green Clements.

He attended elementary and high school at St. Agnes in Union County; seminary training at St. Charles College, Catonville, Maryland and St. Mary's College, St. Mary, KY; and theology training at St. Meinrad Seminary, St. Meinrad, IN.

Father Clements was ordained by Bishop Francis R. Cotton at St. Stephen Cathedral on June 5, 1946. He was Associate Pastor at St. Stephen Cathedral, Owensboro, Sts Peter and Paul, Hopkinsville and Immaculate Conception, Earlington, from 1946 to 1955. Other ministries included: Chaplain at Veterans Hospital, Outwood, KY; Pastor at St. John, Paducah; Blessed Mother, Owensboro; St. Alphonsus, St Joseph, KY; and Chaplain at Mercy Hospital, Owensboro. He retired to the Carmel Home in 1989.

Survivors are nieces and nephews, including Dr. Sam Dunlany of Owensboro.

Funeral services are 11 A.M., Thursday, July 11, 2002 at Blessed Mother Catholic Church with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 P.M., Wednesday and after 9 A.M. Thursday at the church. There will be a prayer service 7 P.M. Wednesday.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Retired Priests Fund.
