Richard L. Benningfield, 61, of Whitesville, passed away October 19, 2016 in Owensboro. He was born March 25, 1955, in Daviess Co. to the late Roy Lee Jr. and Evelyn Benningfield Saltzman. Richard was a man of many talents. He loved his family, loved God, and loved to fish. Richard worked hard throughout his life. He could engineer, construct or repair anything he set his mind on, and was dedicated to precision in his work. He retired from Swedish Match as a maintenance mechanic after spending over 40 years there. Richard was quick witted, a wonderful brother and a compassionate man that will always be loved by many.
Survivors include daughters, Angela (Don) Simpson and Lora (Gary) Butts; grandchildren, Kaylie Bratcher, Hannah Grace Bratcher, Josie Butts and Kendall Butts; his wife of 41 years, Cathy Benningfield Braden; brothers, William Benningfield (Judy), Roy Benningfield (Charlotte), Phil Benningfield, Eddie Benningfield; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2016 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow at Bells Run Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Saturday and after 12:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
