Rexie Maywood Leachman

Maywood Leachman, 92 , of Philpot, died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Owensboro Medical Health System. She was born November 12, 1914 in Letcher County to the late Rex and Dovie (Smith) Bowen. She graduated from the Owensboro School of Nursing in 1937 and retired from Owensboro Daviess County Hospital. She was a member of Third Baptist Church.

Mrs. Leachman was preceded In death by her husband of 61 years, Elbert Buck Leachman, a daughter Marion Chubb, a granddaughter Barbie Chubb and siblings Norvel Bowen, Hazel Moore and Elizabeth Mueller.

Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Leachman, a granddaughter, Heather Chubb, a great grandson, Henry Chubb all of Philpot, brothers Fred (Eva) Bowen of Owensboro, Rex (Tillie) Bowen of Sun City , Arizona, sisters, Georgia Lee of North Hollywood, California, Norine Westerfield of Owensboro, and Nancy Kelley of Winterville, Georgia, and a sister in law, Louise Bowen of Owenboro.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. James Byrd officiating. Entombment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. Wednesday. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimers Association.
