Rene DeJesus Estrada

Rene' (RJ) DeJesus Estrada, Jr.,17, of Owensboro, died Sunday, April 13, 2014, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Huntingburg, IN, was an active member of BridgePointe Church and participated in the BridgePointe Student Ministry. RJ was a comedian and an artist who dreamed of pursuing a career in the Navy. A senior at Daviess County High School, he was an active student, participated in NJROTC and enjoyed reading anything he could find about Greek mythology. For years RJ was a mentee of MentorKids, an organization that influenced greatly the man he had become. He also loved cooking, consuming mass quantities of pizza, and playing football and basketball with his friends.
RJ's family has chosen organ donation so that others may have the chance to fulfill their dreams.

He is survived by his mother, Virginia Coalter Estrada of Owensboro; father, Rene' Estrada, Sr. of El Salvador; sisters, Lahoma Estrada and Selena Coalter both of Owensboro; seven aunts and six uncles; and a host of cousins and friends.

Services will be 2 p.m. on Friday at BridgePointe Church. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
