Rena V. Montgomery, 90, has gone to her heavenly home to rest in peace. She passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2006 at her home. She was born on October 23, 1915 in Dunmor, Ky. to the late Thomas J. & Ivy Jane Hope Hendrix. She lived at 5074 Highway 56, Owensboro for over 60 years. She was a life-time member of St. Martin Catholic Church, a member of the Altar Society, Legion of Mary, and helped with various church activities over the years. She was a very kind and generous person who took pride in her yard and flowers. She was an excellent seamstress and was well known for her many beautiful quilts and was also a member of the Senior Citizens Quilting Group. She retired from the former Owensboro-Daviess Co. Hospital, had worked at Fields Pacing Co., and did alterations for Big-B Cleaners. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Pius Montgomery in May, 1993, two grandsons, Tim Horton in March 1993 and James Custer in April 2005, a granddaughter, Jennifer Logsdon in Oct. 1993, two sons-in-law, Jerry Horton in Sept. 1997 and John Millay in March 2005, six brothers, Dallas, Tommy, Eugene, Lawrence, and J. H. Hendrix, all of Dunmor, and Sherman Hendrix of Owensboro, and one sister, Opal Lott of Henderson.

Survivors include five daughters, Mary Lois Millay, Anna (Percy) Custer, Martha Horton, Teresa Stallings, and Judy (Eddie) Logsdon, all of Owensboro, 11 grandchildren, Norman (Angie) Horton, Michelle (Jerry) Goetz, Margaret McNeely, Brenda ( Gene) Simmons, Michael Custer, and Donna (Jerry) McDaniel, all of Owensboro, Janet (Tony) Johnson of Maceo, Eydie (Jamie) Tate of Madisonville, Vickie (Rick) Woods of Versailles, Rick (Imelda) Millay of Sorgho, and Larry (Diane) Millay of Masonville, 29 great-grandchildren: Brandon, Darrin & Karla Millay, Danielle Alexander, Chad Johnson, Scott, Wes, and Kristina Horton, James Hays, Mikayle and Skyler Powell, Emma, Evan, and Ella Claire Goetz, Addison Tate, David, Lisa, Karrie, Jeffery, and Cindy Simmons, Tonya (Chris) Weikel, Stacey (Arty) Woods, Sheena and Eric Millay, Matthew, Alex, & Tina Custer, Roseanne Payne, and Anna Marie McDaniel, and 18 great-great grandchildren: Jenna Alexander, Dasin Hays, David Phillips, Tiffany Miller, Cody Simmons, Emily McLevain, Jamul Dean, Keresia, Andrew, and Chase Simmons, Cole and Rolly Weikel, Katlain, Zachery, Joshua, and Jeremiah Custer, Darrell Henderson, and Devon Millay; a brother, Austin (Margie) Hendrix of Dunmor, a sister, Margaret Louise Simpson of Owensboro, and a sister-in-law, Alma Montgomery.

Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 18, at St Martin Catholic Church with the Rev. Pete Hughes, Rev. Pike Powell, and Rev. Joe Mills having the final rites. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2:00-8:00 P.M. Friday and from 9:00-10:30 A.M. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Martin Catholic Church, 5856 Highway 81, Owensboro, Ky. 42301.
