Rebecca Sue Payne

Rebecca Sue "Peggy" Mitchell Payne of McCrory, AR, formerly of Reed, Ky. passed away February 19, 2015 at White County Medical Center in Searcy, AR. She was born May 10, 1920 in Reed, KY to Brandon and Eunice Jennings Mitchell.

On April 12, 1937 she was married to Oren J Payne. O.J. died July 5, 1989. She was also preceded in death by two sons, James "June" Payne on April 24, 1976, Robert "Bob" Payne on October 20, 2007, her sister, Jennie Carol Scott on April 6, 2000, and her brother, Robert Joseph "Bobby" Mitchell on July 11, 1998.

Peggy was a dedicated homemaker, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in McCrory, AR and former member of St. Augustine in Reed, KY. Prior to loss of her sight, at the age of 75, Peggy enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. In recent years she continued to enjoy books by listening to the audio versions.

She is survived by five of their seven children: Janice Fray of Rockford, IL, John O. (Betty) Payne of McCrory, AR, Mike (Nancy) Payne of Owensboro, KY, Marla (Marco) Anderson of Fort Myers, FL, Pat (Bruce) Katte of Windsor, WI, two daughters-in-law, Anna Ruth Ramsey and Lois Payne ; one sister-in-law, Mary Jean Hodskins . She has 21 Grandchildren: Gail (Bob) Hartlein, Bill (Amy) Payne, Lisa (Kevin) McKeehan, Debbie (Don) Wood, Teresa (Robert) Ewald, Keith (Lori) Payne, Bobby (Gwyn) Payne, Mark (Jennifer) Payne, Joey (Shelley) Payne, Jimmy (Penny) Payne, Robbie (Pam) Fray, Steve (Amanda) Fray, Dave (Chris) Fray, Tim (Anne) Fray, Vanessa Calvin, Richard (Stacy) Payne, Thomas (Paula) Payne, Judy Trunnell, Jeff (Cindy) Payne, Brad (Betsy) Payne, Mindy (Bao) Lam; 2 step-grandchildren: Stephen McCarty and Stephanie (Jeremy) Whitmore; 37 great-grandchildren: Blake, Ethan, Chase, Nick, Katlin, Leslie, Sara, Adam, Amber, Chelsea, Mackenzie, Anna, Emma, Marion, Sam, Lauren, Dalton, Lacey, Allison, Logan, Dillon, Delanie, J.T., Brianna, Sarah, Alex, Jordan, Trevor, Ashton, Kelsey, Molly, Brandon, Brittany, McKenzie, Brayden, Kailyn, Khai Oren;11 step-great grandchildren: Amy, Dakota, Clint, Mitch, Abbey, Amy, Justin, Tara, Lacey, Katie, Ian; 9 great-great grandchildren: Maddy, Lillie, Tyler, Kyle, Cameron, Tatum, Tinley, Ava, Levi; 8 Step-great-great grandchildren: Chord, Jayden, Jake, Logan, Luke, Amauri, Amalaki and Adrian.

The funeral mass will be at 10 AM Monday, February 23 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Reed, KY. Fr. Arokiasamy Madhichetty and Fr. Jegin Puthenpurackal will officiate with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-6 PM, with prayers at 5 PM , and on Monday after 8:30 AM at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory in Owensboro.
