Raymond Prater

Raymond Prater, 82, of Owensboro, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 28, 2009, at his home. He was born September 14, 1926, to the late Hiram and Ida Noble Prater in eastern, KY. He was a member of Blessed Mother Catholic Church and served in the military during World War II, and worked in heating and air for many years, owning Prater's Heating and Air during that time. He always enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Prater on December 22, 1973.

Survivors include eight children, Gail (James Ray) Walker of Newburgh, IN, Shirley (Mike) Harris, Gary Prater, Vicky (Bruce) Blevins, Bruce Prater, all of Owensboro, Michael Prater of Evansville, IN, David (Kathy) Prater, Larry (Kim) Prater, all of Owensboro; 20 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; a brother and 3 sisters.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, at Blessed Mother Catholic Church, with burial in Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday with prayers at 6:30 p.m. at Glenn Funeral Home. Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
