Raymond Powers

Mr. Raymond Powers, Jr., 67, of 1727 Hughes Ave., Owensboro, died Saturday, July 24, 2004, at his home. He was born August 20, 1936, to Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Whitten Powers, Sr. in Hancock County. He was a certified mechanic, retired from Daviess County Sand and Gravel. He was a member of Mt. Eden Baptist Church in Hancock County. He enjoyed Nascar, car trading, and cooking and grilling was his specialty.

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Powers, Sr., January 15, 1986; a son, David C. Powers, October 3, 2001; and a brother, Louis Darrell Powers, September 18, 2000.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Sharon L. Powers of Owensboro; one son, Sherman Ray Powers of Owensboro; four daughters, Kristie Melton of Knottsville, Kathy Williams of Owensboro, Norma Powers of Peoria, IL, and Lanita McElyea of Murfreesboro, TN; sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; his mother, Mary Powers of Owensboro; one nephew and two nieces.

Services will be 3:00 PM Monday July 26, 2004 at Glenn Funeral Home, with entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be 12:00 until 3:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.glennfuneralhome.com
