Raymond Douglas "Doug" Pendley, 71, of Murfreesboro, TN, and formerly of Owensboro and The Villages, FL, passed away September 9, 2017 while under the care of Alive Hospice. He was born August 3, 1946 in Owensboro to the late Everett and Dorothy Noe Pendley. Doug graduated from Murray State with an MBA, and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy in Norfolk, VA. He retired from Texas Gas in 2001 after 33 years of service as an Information Systems Director.
Doug was a member of New Vision Baptist Church in Murfreesboro, TN. He enjoyed reading, investing and real estate, and liked to play tennis and pickleball in his free time.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Donna Pendley; and a son David Everett Pendley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Deborah J. Pendley of Murfreesboro, TN; daughter, Amy R. Larue (Jason) of Bowling Green, KY; stepsons, Adam Simon (Beth) of Columbus, OH, and Jordan Simon of San Francisco, CA; grandson; Brian Larue of Bowling Green, KY; granddaughters; Sophia and Katie Larue of Bowling Green, KY; brother, Farrell Pendley (Diane) of Owensboro; sister, Cathy Green (Mark) of China Grove, NC; nieces, Julie Spong (Jonathan); Angie Schultz (Mark), Rachael Calloway (Chad); and nephews, Clint Pendley and Tyler Green (Whitney).
Services will be 10 AM Wednesday, September 13, 2017 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Philip Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Owensboro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 – 8 PM on Tuesday, and after 9 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
