Raymond S. Onstott, 84, of Philpot passed away Sunday, February 20, 2011 at the Owensboro Medical Health System. Born in Daviess County on November 2, 1926, he was the son of the late Estil and Minnie Pollard Onstott; was retired from Green River Steel; was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and attended St John United Methodist Church; and was an Army veteran. Mr. Onstott enjoyed fishing, farming and gardening; but most of all, he enjoyed his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Herman Onstott; sisters, Mary Pate and Agnus Cook; and a grandson, Benjamin Rose.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Helen VanWinkle Onstott; daughters, Sally Silliman and her husband Tom of Newburgh and Amy McKay and her husband Craig of Alabama; grandchildren, Laura Rose Schefer and Rachel Rose; step-grandchildren, Heather McKay and Graham McKay; and great-grandchildren, Jessica Dennison, Kyle Dennison, and Cayden Madden.
Services are 12 noon Wednesday, February 23, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Ken Spurrier officiating followed by entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday and after 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Alzheimer's Association.
