Raymond Edward Coomes, 83 of Owensboro, died Monday, April 22, 2013 at the Carmel Home. Raymond was a native of Daviess County, born to the late Gonzaga and Bertha (Droctor) Coomes. He was a guard for Green River Steel, and a member of St. Stephen Cathedral.
Raymond was preceded in death also by his first wife, Mazie Hartz Coomes in 1976 and his second wife Gwendalyn M. Coomes in 2006, and two brothers, Robert and Joseph Coomes.

Surviving are his children, Dr. Jack (Jenny) Coomes of Owensboro, Vincent Coomes of Lawrenceburg, KY, Mike (Judy) Coomes of Indianapolis, IN, and Rita Ann (Steve) Blanford of Louisville, Ky, step-children, John Benjamin, Robert Benjamin and Lucienne Lehman, all of Canada, 14 grandchildren, and sisters, Mary Louise (David) Steiner of Thornton, CO, and Sheila (Tom) Callaghan of Carmel, IN.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at the Carmel Home with Rev. Tony Jones officiating. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 7:30 p.m., and after 9 a.m. Friday at the Carmel Home until service time. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Carmel Home and online condolences may be left at www.glennfuneralhome.com.
