Raymond J. Boutin Sr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Raymond J. Boutin Sr., 84, of Owensboro, who went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2024, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born July 24, 1940, in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the late Harvey and Teresa Boutin. Raymond proudly served his country as an Army Vietnam veteran, earning his place among the brave men and women who have defended freedoms. He was also a part of the 82nd and 101st Airborne division. This commitment to service carried over into various aspects of his life, reflecting his conservative nature and strong personal values. For over 31 years, Raymond worked as a South casting operator at Commonwealth Aluminum, a position he carried out with unwavering dedication and a work ethic that was admired by many. A man of few words, he demonstrated remarkable resilience and never complained, embodying the spirit of self-sufficiency as he taught himself everything he knew. Raymond was known for his incredible endurance, many times completing an impressive 500 sit-ups during an episode of The Price is Right. He was a marathon runner and was one of the best in his age group in the tristate area. Raymond had a zest for life that encompassed a wide variety of interests. He loved to exercise, always seeking new adventures, whether through travel, driving his beloved red corvette, kayaking, or riding motorcycles. His connection to the outdoors and affinity for the beach brought him immense joy, and he cherished the moments spent on church trips and cruises with family and friends.

At the heart of Raymond’s life was his loving family, who will forever treasure the lessons of love and laughter impacted by their father and grandfather. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, resilience, and an adventurous spirit that will be remembered by those fortunate enough to know him. Raymond J. Boutin Sr. will be deeply missed, not just for his achievements but for the quiet strength and integrity he exuded throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, Raymond is preceded in death by a sister, Doris Benoit.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Cass Boutin; sons, Raymond J. Boutin Jr. (Shannon) and Christopher J. Boutin; siblings, Marie Tupaj, Robert “Bob” Boutin, Michelle Boutin (Stephen Puleo), and Paul Boutin; grandchildren, Alicia Ann Boutin (Kyle Meredith) and Justin Ray Boutin (Kameron); great-granddaughter, Evelyn “Evie” Meredith; brother-in-law, Johnny H. Brown (Margaret Ann); sister-in-law, Roseleen Brown (Dave Davidowski); as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for the extraordinary care given to Raymond during his final days. The family was overwhelmed by the exceptional care shown by all the doctors and nurses, especially those on the 9th floor.
