Raymond L. Bell, 96, of Owensboro passed away Saturday, January 14, 2006 at the Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Wayne County on October 6, 1909, Mr. Bell was the son of the late Robert C. and Nancy Fairchild Bell; was a member of Buena Vista Baptist Church; and was a retired oil drilling contractor, owning/operating the R.L. Bell Company. Mr. Bell was a devoted family man who enjoyed traveling, landscaping, nature, and watching basketball and baseball. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Billy H. Brenner in 2003.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Irene Crowe Bell; daughter, Doris Faye Bell Brenner of Calhoun; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Raymond and Rhoda Chism Bell of Louisville; grandson, Bradley Stuart Bell and his wife Jennifer of Troy, MI; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Katie, and Emma Bell of Troy, MI; and sisters, Cleora Bell of Remington, IN , Lela Young of Woolcott, IN, and Marie Nichols of FL.
Services are 12:30 P.M. Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Calhoun Cemetery officiated by Rev. Charles Bennett. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. to Noon on Thursday at Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Kentucky Baptist Childrens Home.
