Ray Samuel Wilkerson

Ray Samuel Wilkerson, 87, of Owensboro, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015 while under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. He was born November 22, 1928 in Ohio Co., to the late Beckham and Rosalee Wilkerson. Ray was retired as a maintenance supervisor with Green River Steel after 48 years of service. He was a member of Calvary Temple Assembly of God where he had taught Sunday School and had been a deacon. He was one of 15 children and enjoyed spending time with his friends. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing golf especially with his son-in-law, Mitch. He also enjoyed raising a garden, his fruit trees for canning jellies and preserves, and making green tomato relish which was his mother's recipe. Ray was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Georgia, Willis Lee, Kendal, Roland, and Walter Wilkerson, and a son-in-law, Michael Wallace in 2014.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Goff Wilkerson, son, Roger Dale (Terry) Wilkerson of Denver, Colo., two daughters, Naomi Ruth (Mitch) Brown of Owensboro and Miriam Rose Wallace of Pottsboro, TX, three grandchildren, Nichole (Rob) Johnson of Fresco, TX, Chris (Stacey) Brown of Trenton, OH, and Colton (Candice) Wilkerson of Diana, TX, three great grandchildren, and brothers and sisters, Mary Hopper of Louisville, Randal Wilkerson of California, Rendal Wilkerson of Rockport, Ronald (Dorothy) Wilkerson, of Rockport, Suzie M. Maddox of Owensboro, twin brothers Stevie (Judy) Wilkerson of Centertown and Fredie Wilkerson of Echols, Bonnie (Tony) Westerfield of Owensboro, and Rebecca Mohon of Richmond.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 1, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow in Render Cemetery in Ohio Co. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
