Ray Joseph Rhodes, 58, of Owensboro died on Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Owensboro to Joseph A. and Betty Lou Galloway Rhodes.
Ray was a graduate of Owensboro Catholic High and member of St. Stephen's Cathedral. For more than 20 years he worked at the local hospital. Most of those years were spent in surgery and then more recently in the pharmacy. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid chess player. Ray was a patient, happy, witty, likeable and gentle man who will be missed by many.
Ray is preceded in death by his mother; Betty Lou Galloway Rhodes and a niece, Sara Sorenson.
Survivors include his father, Joseph A. Rhodes of Owensboro; sister, Sue Beth Sorenson of Storm Lake, Iowa; brothers, James A. Rhodes and Tom Rhodes (Betty), both of Owensboro; nieces and nephews, Joseph Sorenson, Mary Sorenson Ludwig (Bret), Kevin Rhodes (Dawn) and Kaylen Rhodes; and several great nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be at 12 Noon on Monday at St. Stephen's Cathedral. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-6 PM on Sunday, with prayers at 5PM, and after 9 AM on Monday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory.
