Randolph W. Erickson

Randolph W. Erickson, formally of Owensboro, passed away peacefully at his Kentucky Lake home with his wife and children by his side. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 27, 1957, to Carole Erickson Landon and the late Charles Arthur Erickson. Randy graduated from Homewood - Flossmoor High School in Flossmoor, Illinois and the University of Kentucky where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a member of St. Matthews by the Lake Lutheran Church in Gilbertsville, Kentucky.

While in Owensboro, Randy was an active volunteer in the Daviess County Select Soccer program and U.S. Swimming, serving on boards for both organizations. He served as the swim team coach at Daviess County High School, volunteering his time and talent and subsequently winning Kentucky Regional High School Coach of the year. Randy loved to cook and over the years won several ribbons and trophies for his outstanding barbecue. After moving to Kentucky Lake, Randy spent much of his free time on his boat and dock, fishing, entertaining friends and hiking through the woods to photograph wildlife. He was also an avid runner, competing in several marathons including two Boston marathons. Most recently, Randy became a proficient wood turner, and traveled to many classes and demonstrations to hone his art.

Randy was employed by British Petroleum Gas and for 30 years and was a much loved and respected member of the gas industry, well known for his honesty and integrity. He served as a tireless volunteer in Louisiana during the Gulf oil spill.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Shannon (Morrison) Erickson; son, Brad Erickson; daughter, Emily (JP) Feighery; mother, Carole Erickson Landon; brothers, Richard Erickson and Robert (Laura) Erickson; brother-in-law, Dane (Diana) Morrison; nephews, Eric Erickson, Patrick Erickson, Robert Erickson, Nate Morrison and Andrew Morrison; and great-nephew, Brantley Erickson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. with prayers and a time of sharing at 7:00 P.M. and after Noon on Thursday until time of service.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to CASA of Ohio Valley or the Make a Wish Foundation.
