Randall Mills, 88, of Owensboro, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2011 at The Carmel Home. Born in Daviess County, a son of the late L.K. and Helen Lingang Mills, he was a graduate of St. Francis Academy, attended St. Meinrad, and was a graduate of Purdue University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and the Purdue University School of Pharmacy. Mr. Mills was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the U.S.S. Tranquility in the Pacific Theatre. He retired as co-owner of Mills Drug Store in 1983 and was a member of St. William Catholic Church. A country gentleman, he was a family man, hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman. His wife, Margaret "Baby" Hazel Mills preceded him in death in 1981.
Mr. Mills is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Mills of Owensboro; his sons, Mike Mills and wife Elaine, of Owensboro, Greg Mills of Huntsville, Alabama, and Joe Mills and wife Vicki, of Owensboro. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Kay Rhodes and husband Tony, Sister Ann Mariam Mills, Father Joe Mills, Jack Mills and wife Doris, Mollie Bissmeyer and husband Joe, and Bill Mills and wife Martha "Gully" all of Owensboro; his grandchildren, Ginny Ward, Mollie Mills, Maggie Thompson, Clay Mills, Jessica McKinley, Brad Mills, Joseph Mills, Michael Mills, and Nick Mills; and his great-grandchildren, Gracie, Cale, Maggie Beth, and "Mills".
The funeral Mass for Mr. Mills will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. William Catholic Church in Knottsville. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday and from 12:00 noon until 1:00 Sunday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory, where prayers will be said at 7:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
