Ramonda Brown Towery

Ramonda Brown Towery, 79, of Owensboro, passed away Friday, July 31, 2026, surrounded by family at her home. She was born on November 11, 1946, in Owensboro to the late Russell and Thelma Boling Brown. Jerry Towery and Ramonda Brown met while they were high schoolers, and he quickly told her he was going to marry her someday. He kept his word and not long afterwards they were married on February 8, 1964.

Ramonda was a 1964 graduate of Owensboro High School. She and Jerry raised 4 children. Ramonda had a strong work ethic, retiring from Glenmore Distillery after many years in production and as the Union Steward. After retirement her name changed from Ramonda to “Nana” as she spent most of her time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was very proud that she worked hard and was able to work her way into a comfortable life for herself and her family. She and Jerry used to love to travel, landing in places such and Hawaii and Canada. Ramonda enjoyed flowers, crafting, painting, and especially shopping. She often referred to herself as the Blue-collar Martha Stewart.

Ramonda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Jerry Towery; her four children, Jennifer (Robert) Matson, Chris (Angela) Towery, Renee (James) Hawn, and Jamie (James) Rich; 12 grandchildren, Jared Beckhart, Kimber (Codey) Burt, Claire Towery, Reese Towery, Kayla (Zhane) Krampe, Cameron Jones, Jakob Rich, Joshua Rich, Jaxon Rich, Stephanie Hawn, Alex Hawn, and Emberlynne Shirel; 12 great-grandchildren, Madison (Logan) Stevenson, Kadence Beckhart, Raelynn Beckhart, Laikyn Burt, Malin Burt, Hudson Krampe, Evy Krampe, Quill Krampe, McKenzie Hawn, Zane Hawn, Presley Hawn, and Amelia Canary; and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kayson Stevenson and Karsyn Stevenson.

The funeral service for Ramonda will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 6 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Chris Towery officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.
