Ralph N. Taylor

Ralph N. Taylor, 87, of Owensboro passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at KTCRC Hillcrest. Born in Graves County, KY, the son of the late B.W. and Modelle Cobb Taylor, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater with the 84th Infantry Division at the Battle of the Bulge. Following the war he attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelor of Science in accounting. He worked at Texas Gas Transmission Company for 36 years, retiring as Director of Budgets in 1986. A member of First Baptist Church, Mr. Taylor served as Chairman of Deacons, Adult 3 Sunday school director, chairman of the Finance Committee, Training Union Director and as a member of the choir. His community and professional memberships included the Junior Chamber of Commerce having been awarded its Certificate of Merit and Key Man Certificate, and the American Gas Association for which he served on numerous committees. His interests included gardening, especially his prize-winning roses, and sports including his participation in bowling, golf, baseball, softball and his following of University of Kentucky athletics.

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of almost 66 years, Margie Cochrum Taylor; his daughters, Sheila Depp and her husband Bob, of Owensboro and Anita Santillo and her husband Michael of Dubuque, Iowa; his grandchildren, Tip Depp (Candy) of Louisville, Dr. Ginger Cline (Matt) of Houston, Tod Depp (Kaitlyn) of Austin, Keri Howard (Brian) of Lexington, Giovanna Santillo of Dubuque, and Nick Santillo of Cedar Falls, IA; his great-grandchildren, Geneva Cline, Trey Howard, Edward Depp, Jr., Delaney Cline, Olivia Depp, and Victoria Depp; and his sister Barbara Nelle Sanderson of Versailles.

The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Paul Strahan, will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory and from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. Interment will be in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the First Baptist church Memorial Fund, Sunrise Children's Services, or one's charity of choice.
