Ralph L. Rascoe, 80, of Owensboro, died June 15, 2014. He was born in Trigg County on November 4, 1933 to the late A.J. and Lucille Gray Rascoe.

Ralph served as an Army Paratrooper during the Korean War. He graduated from Daviess County High School before attending Kentucky Wesleyan College and graduating from the Spencerian Business College. Ralph retired from the City of Owensboro, first working as an accountant, then Personnel Director and finally Finance Director. Under Ralph's direction, the Finance Department received the "Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting", awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association, nine times in addition to several other rewards . This award recognizes government units whose comprehensive annual financial reporting achieve the highest standards in governmental accounting and financial reporting. He also served as the State Representative for the Government Finance Officers Association. Ralph served on the boards of the Elizabeth Munday Senior Citizen Center, River Park Center and several other boards within the community.

Ralph was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a moderator, Sunday School teacher, deacon and member of several committees. He was also active with Gideons International for 18 years.

Ralph was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mildred Foster.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Munday Rascoe; daughters, Lisa Davis ( Kenny ), Karen Reed ( Daryl); a son, Jeff Rascoe (Teresa); grandchildren, Brad Davis (Natalie), Jeff Davis, Kyle Reed (Lacey), Emily Reed, Seth Reed, Jonathon Rascoe, Elizabeth Rascoe and Michael Rascoe; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Harris (William), Ewing Rascoe (Jean), Gerald Rascoe (Barbara), Bobby Rascoe (Nancy), Martha Kenney (Mike) and Linda Rascoe; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be at 10 am Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Rev. David Wiggins will officiate. Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 on Tuesday and after 9 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
