Ralph Edward Nave, 91, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008, in Knoxville, TN, where he had lived for the past three years. He was born June 15, 1916 in Calhoun, KY. He retired after 38 years as Maintenance Superintendent for the Owensboro City Schools. A Kentucky Colonel, he was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, where he was a longtime deacon and Sunday school teacher. He delighted in dressing as Santa Claus at Christmas and visiting churches and the elderly and taking gifts to children.
He was preceded in death by a son, P.J. Nave, and a brother, John R. Nave.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Georgia Lee Brooks Nave; a son, Ralph Nave of Owensboro, a daughter, Lyda Krahwinkel and her husband, D. J. of Knoxville, TN; and Donnie Bray, a special friend; six grandchildren, Paul, Bill, Todd and Lonnie Nave, Kevin and Kelly Krahwinkel; as well as nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Catherine Nave and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home with burial in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 2:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday and after 8:30 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.
