Ralph Edward Main

Ralph Edward Main, Sr., 77, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, March 23, 2008 at his home. Born June 20, 1930 in Daviess County, he was the son of the late Ralph Peter and Mary "Pinky" Moore Main; retired from the Owensboro Fire Department where he served 30 years; was a Justice of the Peace for over 25 years; and was a retired farmer. A member of Seven Hills Baptist Church, he was a lay minister and member of the Bus ministry. Mr. Main was a graduate of Owensboro High School in 1949 and played on the school's first state championship football team; was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict; was one of the first certified EMT's in Owensboro; had served as a Pop Warner football coach; and enjoyed racing go-karts and collecting Indian relics. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Luttrell Main and his step-mother, Carrie Jones Main.

He is survived by sons, Ralph Main, Jr. of Atlanta and Bruce ( and Tina) Main, Clint (and Lori) Main, Chris Main, and Sam ( and Crystal) Main all of Owensboro; daughters, Sally (and Dennie) Pate and Joyce (and Jed) Akers both of Owensboro; grandchildren, Chris Main, Blake Main, Charley (and Jared) Spurrier, Cassy Pate, Erica Main, Chris Main, II, Jerrett Main, Zackery Main, Nathan Calloway, and Kate Main all of Owensboro and Amanda (and Josh) Russell of Hazel, KY; a great-grandchild, Addison Spurrier of Owensboro; and sisters, Joyce (and Wade) Muncey and Doris Colbert both of Owensboro.

Services are 1 P.M. Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at Glenn Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Coons officiating followed by burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 P.M. on Tuesday and after 10 A.M. on Wednesday.
