Ralph "Bud" Fulkerson, 83, of Owensboro passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at Hillcrest Healthcare. Born in Jefferson County on April 21, 1927, he was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Fulkerson was President of Fulkerson Tire Co., 1702 Triplett St., and a member of the American Tire Dealers Association of America, the Daviess County Fair Board, the Kiwanis, the Rotary, the Owensboro Country Club, and First Baptist Church. While the tire business was a major part of his life, it did not totally define him, He loved art, music, singing, traveling, and was a master joke teller. He began every conversation with a story - generally corny - which always received a laugh from any audience.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Dennis Williams of Franklin, TN and a son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Janella Fulkerson of Owensboro; grandchildren, Michael, John (Sara), and Sarah Williams, and Kara (Derrick) Rumley and Steven (Abby) Fulkerson; and great-grandchildren, Luke Williams and Tristan Rumley.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in the Chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Dr. Carson L. Salyer, Jr., pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Nashville, officiating. Burial will follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family offers their sincere thanks to the care providers at Fern Terrace, Heritage Place Assisted Living, and especially, Hillcrest Healthcare.
