Quincy Neil Styke

November 22, 1921 — July 1, 2013

Quincy Neil Styke, Jr., age 91, recently of Owensboro and formerly of Manchester, TN passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013. He was born on November 22, 1921 in Mohawk, Tennessee to the late Quincy N. and Winnie A. Styke.

He is preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Laughters, Selma Wisecarver, and Georgia Havely.

Quincy graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Agriculture in 1948. He served in the Army during WWII. He worked 33 years for the USDA Farmers Home Administration where he helped build rural America's farms and expanded public infrastructure to rural America. He was a member of the Lions Club, the chairman of the local human services board, and president of Highland Rim Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society. His hobbies were gardening, bird watching, beekeeping, tracking market and commodity trends and listening to early country music. He worked throughout his life to provide for his family and to set a Christian example. He was a rock of stability to his family who loved him dearly. He will be missed by all who knew him. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Helen D. Styke; his daughter, Jean Styke Rutledge ( Dave); his two sons; Quincy N. Styke III ( Jennifer) and Dan D. Styke ( Tammy); four grandsons, Quincy N. Styke IV, Zachary A. Styke, Paul Y. Styke and Daniel M. Styke.

Funeral service will be held at Noon Saturday in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with Pastor Dan Wigton officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until Noon on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date in Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Macedonia Baptist Church ( Benevolence Fund ).
