Pleasant Jackson Miller Pate

Pleasant Jackson Miller Pate, 82, a lifelong resident of Daviess County, until he moved to Jasper, Indiana two years ago, passed away Friday, July 7, 2006 at St. Joseph Hospital in Huntingburg, IN. He was born in Daviess County on October 24, 1923 to the late Eli and Chleo Mickel Pate.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie Leonard Pate, his daughter, Robin Lynn Pate of Jasper, IN and his daughter, Carol and her husband John Palmore of Frankfort, KY. He was preceded in death by his son, Leonard Allen Pate in 1990. Also surviving is a sister, Beulah Mayton and a brother, Paul Pate both of Owensboro, a brother, Bobby Pate of North Carolina, a sister, Mary Lillian Adcock and a brother, Harry Dean Pate, both of Missouri, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives. A brother, Robert Allen Pate, preceded him in death.

P.J., as his friends called him, was retired from ALCOA in Warwick County, Indiana. He was a member of Eaton Memorial Baptist Church in Owensboro, a veteran of World War II, having served in Pattons Third Army, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge. A lifelong avid boater, camper, and outdoorsman, he was one of the original organizers of the Owensboro Water Ski Club and was a member of several RV Associations.

Active pallbearers will be his nephews, Bobby Leonard, David Leonard, Timmy Pate, Brian Pate, Rick Mayton, Lee Broadley, Brian Yeckering, and Cody Dickens. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be his brothers and sisters and Bill Denton and James L. Buddy Gaddis.

Services are 3 P.M. Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. Dennis McFadden and Rev. Dan Tippie officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-3 P.M prior to the service

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eaton Memorial Baptist Church, 1225 West Third St., Owensboro, KY 42301; or the Dubois (IN) County Hospice Association, 1990 Medical Arts Dr., Huntingburg, IN 47542. Cards and condolences may be mailed to Carrie Pate, 177 S. 400 W., Jasper, IN 47546.
