Phillip W. Tooley, 64, fondly known by many as Phil, Dr. Phil, Uncle Phil, and Pop-pop, passed away Friday, July 11, 2025, at his home. He was born December 15, 1960, to the late David B. and Marie Tooley.
Phillip enjoyed a fulfilling career that spanned over 35 years in the HVAC industry. He worked for Sierra College, ARC Bowling Centers, and most recently as a maintenance supervisor and HVAC engineer for the Woodland School District in Woodland, California, where he contributed over 15 years of dedicated service. Known for his extensive knowledge of the HVAC trade, Phillip took great pride in sharing that knowledge through teaching. He served as an instructor for the Union Gospel Mission, helping individuals in rehab gain valuable skills and rebuild their lives. Phillip also made significant contributions to the training programs for the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES), further enriching the lives of his students and the community.
To those who knew him, Phillip was affectionately regarded as "Mr. Fix It." With an unmatched willingness to help, he was the go-to person for anyone facing a project or challenge. His hands-on approach and endless patience made him a trusted friend and mentor to many.
Phillip proudly served in the Air Force, a testament to his dedication to his country. This military background instilled in him a strong work ethic and a commitment to excellence that permeated all aspects of his life.
Among his hobbies, Phillip found immense joy in woodworking and had a passion for HAM radio, where he successfully reclaimed his old call sign “WB4OFS”. These interests provided him with a creative outlet, but perhaps his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. A devoted father and grandfather, he was known lovingly as "Pop-pop" to his grandchildren, who adored him completely. Phillip cherished these moments and was always eager to engage with them, leaving a legacy of love and support that will endure.
In addition to his parents, Phillip is preceded in death by a sister, Susan McMain.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 41 years, Becky Tooley; children, Hailey Wheeler (Justin), Nicholas Tooley (Tiffany) and Ryan Tooley (Karlie); siblings, Mike Tooley (Sandy), Debbie Brimm (Steve), Connie Perry (Chuck) and Mark Tooley (Katherine); grandchildren, Grace Tooley, Marlowe Wheeler, Beckham Wheeler, Bodie Tooley, and one on the way, Scottie May Tooley; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service for Phillip will be 2 PM Thursday, July 17, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 12 PM until time of service at the funeral home.
