Phillip M. Hamilton, 74, of Beechmont passed away Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Wellington Parc. The Daviess County native was born August 3, 1949, as one of eleven children to the late Paul and Pauline Hines Hamilton. Phil graduated from Daviess County High School, class of 1967 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a tank mechanic. His experience served him well after he was honorably discharged and became a diesel mechanic with Pedley’s Garage and retired from there after twenty-five years. Phil was an avid fisherman who loved crappie fishing and frying up a batch for his family. He also took up coin collecting later in his life. Always a happy guy with a smile on his face, Phil enjoyed playing practical jokes on his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Phil also was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Hamilton, Jimmy Hamilton, Martin Hamilton and John Hamilton and sisters, Mary Magan, Joann Daily, Joyce Jarvis, Judy Bainbridge, and Cathy Crawford.
Those left to cherish his memory include his two daughters, Rhonda Whistle and husband Keith of Madisonville, Jennifer Fleener, and husband Kellen of Beaver Dam; four grandchildren, Jessica Cauley, Kamron Whistle, Emmett Fleener, and Ember Fleener; great grandchild, Ava Cauley; brother, Tommy Hamilton (Linda); fiancé, Pat Jernigan, her son, Josh Jernigan (Shelly), and two grandchildren, Dailee and Mattea; numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be noon Thursday, May 30 at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm and Thursday from 11:00am until the time of service. Burial with military honors will be in the Field of Honor at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.
