Philip Don Spurlock

Philip D. Spurlock, 65, of Owensboro, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born March 14, 1950 in Rockport, IN to the late Clayton and Ruth Reinhart Spurlock. He was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church and was retired from the Owensboro Catholic School System after 36 years of Service from 1976 until 2012. During those years, he was a teacher at the Owensboro Catholic Middle School for 15 years and was a principal at Bishop Soenneker School at Precious Blood for 12 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Brescia College and his Masters Degree from Gannon University in Erie, PA. Philip enjoyed writing short stories and poems and studying theology and history. He will always be remembered for his intelligence and having a great sense of humor. Most of all, he was a loving father, grandfather, and brother and was a very family-oriented man.

Surviving are his children, including four daughters, Jessica (Josh) Pendley, Deanna Spurlock, Leah Spurlock, and Rebecca Spurlock, all of Owensboro, two sons, Jeffrey Spurlock and Christopher Spurlock, both of Owensboro, eight grandchildren, Austin, Clayton, Noah, and Zoey Pendley, Shelby Wright, Alexander Goodman, Sammy Goetz, and Amelia Spurlock, four brothers, Larry (Janie) Spurlock of Denver, CO, Darryl (Rosalie) Spurlock of Evansville, IN, Lenn and Kenn Spurlock, both of Owensboro, and a sister, Gwen Powers of Denver.

Services will be 5:00 P.M. Thursday, May 14 at Immaculate Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory with prayers at 7:00 P.M. and after 4:00 P.M. Thursday at Immaculate Church.
