Dr. Pete A. Parks, 88, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Heartford House. Born February 11, 1926 in Williamsburg. KY, he was the son of the late Oscar and Ollie Smith Parks and was a member of First Christian Church. Dr. Parks was a dentist for 33 years and was a member of the Kentucky Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and the Green River Dental Association. He also volunteered at the hospital for many years. Dr. Parks did his undergraduate work at Cumberland University and the University of Louisville and graduated from the University Of Louisville Dental School. He was an amateur painter and enjoyed opera. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Justice.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Gene Parks; daughters, Cathy Perrin and her husband Steve of Owensboro and Karen Knighton and her husband Jim of Zionsville, IN; a son, Greg Parks and his wife Susan of Louisville; grandchildren, Nicholas (Monica) Ebelhar, Ryan Ebelhar, Kathleen (Luke) Davidson, and Grace Anne Knighton; great-grandchildren, Caroline Ebelhar, Bennett Ebelhar, Jack Henry Davidson, and Hadley Davidson.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m Monday, December 8, 2014 in the chapel of Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory followed by entombment in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday and after 9 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to First Christian Church or to the Heartford House.
