Perry Daniel "P.D." Wilson, 94, of Yelvington- Knottsville, Road, died Sunday, September 23, 2012 at Owensboro Place Nursing Home. He was born February 6, 1918 in Owensboro to the late Ishmael and Elizabeth (Foster) Wilson. P.D. served in the Army in WWII, he was a drummer and band leader, and owned the Dugout Restaurant in the 1940's. He and his brother Nat later owned and operated Wilson Brothers Radio and T.V. for several years, then he moved to Kentucky Lake and managed Kentucky Dam Marina before retiring. He and his late wife, Mary Willard "Billie" Wilson lived on the lake on a houseboat. He was president of the Two Cycle Terrors Model Airplane Club, and was a member of the "P U" Band. After Billie passed away, he moved in with his son Jon and wife Janie in Yelvington, where he learned to drive a tractor, garden, can vegetables, smoke county hams, and even build a cabin on the creek.
P.D. became a born again Christian late in life, and said that he was "Amazed why other people were not saved when you are a sinner, and you can ask Jesus to forgive you"
His son Jon considers it a privilege in the last 18 years to have shared so many things with his father.
In addition to his son and daughter in law, Jon and Janie Wilson, he is survived by a granddaughter, Katie Danielle Wilson of California, a daughter-in-law, Denise Lynch and her second husband, Roger, of Newburgh, IN, and a nieces, Nancy Midkiff and her daughter, Ann Marie Crowe of Owensboro.
