Perry Anne Thornton, born on February 4, 1958, in Brynmawr, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Kentucky. A graduate of Duke University, Perry completed her studies in 1980 with a double major in Art and French. Her passion for art was evident in her every endeavor; she was an accomplished artist known for her drawing and painting, as well as a gifted poet. Perry found joy in sharing her creative expressions with her friends and family, often gifting them with her creations. Beyond her artistic talents, Perry had a profound love for nature and all of God’s creation. She especially cherished animals, with horses and cats holding a special place in her heart. Her nurturing spirit extended to the trees, plants, and wildlife that she admired and cared for throughout her life. Perry was characterized by her free spirit and tendency to keep to herself, yet her warmth and altruism resonated deeply with those lucky enough to know her. She had a remarkable ability to connect with the weak and disabled, offering support and kindness when it was needed most. Perry knew Jesus as her savior; this certainty brought her great comfort.
Perry is preceded in death by her father, Frederick Perry Boynton Thornton.
Those left to cherish her memory include her mother, Barbara Evans; sister, Lauren Bickel; brothers, Frederick Perry Boynton Thornton Jr. (Kristi) and Thomas Fox Thornton (Yuge); nieces, Emily Wicker, Abby Mallow, and Mariah Thornton, Boyang Thornton; and nephews, Tim Bickel, Daniel Thornton, Matthew Thornton, Liam Thornton, Roan Thornton and Eli Thornton.
The funeral service for Perry will be 12 PM Tuesday, May 27, at Glenn Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until time of service at the funeral home.
