Perry Glenn Starks, 59, of Owensboro died Monday, January 16, 2017 at Owensboro Center. He was born in Owensboro to Charles Edward and Regina McCormick Starks. Perry was a Baptist and had worked for Jagoe Homes as a Footer Layout Specialist. He served his country in the United States Army for six years and then retired as a Sergeant First Class from the United States Army Reserve after 37 years. Perry was a member of a tight knit brotherhood who bonded through their years of service in the Army Reserve. He was a story teller, an exaggerator and embellisher of a lifetime of tales, whose wry wit and jovial spirit charmed his family and friends and the new recruits he was assigned to. Perry was a caregiver, an animal lover and a unique soul that we were lucky to know. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edward Starks and his aunt, Betty Olgetree.
Survivors include his wife of 17 years, Janice Starks; his mother, Regina Starks; son, PJ Starks and his wife Katrina of Owensboro; step-children, Shaun Fry of Owensboro, Kristen Fry of Charleston, SC, and Kevin Fry of Owensboro; grandchildren, Logan and Connor Starks, Briann, Kaleigh, and Shyla Fry and Falcon Fry; siblings, Eric Starks, Kim Koenig and her husband, Lance, and Drew Starks; and among his many friends were, Les Peek, Micky Wells and Mark Phillips.
